Welcome to River Reader. We are a small, northern California bookstore nestled between the Russian River and a forest of redwoods in the town of Guerneville. Just minutes from wine country and the Sonoma Coast, Guerneville is a destination with that special small town feel.
Neighborhood Bookstore
While we think of ourselves as a general bookstore, we have a special emphasis on fi ction, science & nature and state and local art, politics and history. If you walk toward the redwood tree at the back of the store you will fi nd our children’s, middle reader, and young adult section filled with books that are multicultural, pleasing to the eye and enriching to the mind. Give in to the temptation to pull out a pillow and check out this great selection. If we don’t have a title you want, we will get it for you, new or used. We love book searches.
Monthly Poetry Circle
River Reader is fortunate to have the past Sonoma County Poet Laureate, Mike Tuggle, host a monthly poetry circle on the third Saturday of each month at 11 am. All are welcome to share their own very short stories or poetry.
Community Events
River Reader frequently hosts authors, illustrators, poets, photographers, and musicians. Each event is a special occasion and each one contributes to making the store a wonderful community gathering place. We have at least three of these events a month, some jam-packed with standing room only, others spread around long candle lit tables that traverse the room. We often cap off these evenings with homemade desserts and this allows for further conversations with the guest, and also for catching up on local gossip.
